Why I Have Never Been a Fan of Valentine's Day
What Is Valentine's Day?
Valentine's Day is a special holiday celebrated on February 14th around the world. It is a day dedicated to love and romance, and it is often celebrated by giving cards, flowers, or gifts to the person you love. It has become an increasingly popular holiday, but it has not always been that way.
My Dislike of Valentine's Day
I have never been a fan of this holiday. To me, it feels like a lot of pressure to find the perfect gift or card, as well as a lot of pressure to plan the perfect date. I also find it a bit awkward to give a gift to someone that you are not in a committed relationship with. It can feel like it is implying more than you actually mean.
The Commercialization Of Valentine's Day
I also find the commercialization of Valentine's Day to be a bit off-putting. It seems like every year there are new products and gifts that are marketed specifically for this holiday, and I find them a bit over the top. It can also feel like it's a bit of a money grab, and I would rather not contribute to that.
Alternative Ways to Show Love
I think that it is important to show love and appreciation to those we care about all year round, not just on Valentine's Day. I like to show my appreciation with small gestures such as making a special dinner or sending a thoughtful card or email. I think these gestures are much more meaningful than buying a gift that was specifically marketed for this holiday.
My Thoughts on Valentine's Day
Overall, I have never been a fan of Valentine's Day. I find it to be an unnecessary holiday that puts too much pressure on people to find the perfect gift or plan the perfect date. I also find the commercialization of this holiday to be off-putting. I prefer to show my love and appreciation to those I care about all year round, rather than just on this one day.
